HeidelbergCement Reports Strong First Quarter

HeidelbergCement reported a good start to 2020 despite a rough March. Compared with the strong January and February of the previous year, sales volumes increased in all business lines. From mid-March, however, sales volumes were significantly impaired by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, such as state-imposed production downtimes and construction stoppages on major infrastructure projects.

GCCA Releases New Industry Biodiversity Guidelines

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has published new guidelines aimed at further improving the biodiversity performance of the industry’s quarries. The guidelines support the association’s Sustainability Charter implementation and represent a collaborative effort by member companies to improve overall performance in biodiversity management and quarry rehabilitation.
