Illinois Cement Donates 68.7 Acres to Park System

Illinois Cement Co. donated approximately 68.7 acres of reclaimed land to La Salle, Ill.’s park system, reported La Salle NewsTribune. The majority of the acreage will be added to the city’s Rotary Park.

“We’ve always believed we’re in the community and we’re part of the community,” said Wayne Emmer, Illinois Cement vice president of operations, in regards to the donation. “It just ties in perfectly.”

An active quarry until 1999, Illinois Cement went through a long process of reclaiming the land while working with the Department of Natural Resources and the city. This donation follows previous land donations by Illinois Cement to La Salle.
