The Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) Board of Directors appointed Enrique Escalante as chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2015. Escalante succeeds Manual Milan, who will retire at the end of the year after a tenure during which the company, through U.S. market entry, grew from six to 116 ready mixed concrete plants and two to six cement plants, as well as developed a solid distribution network that transformed it into a supplier of choice.CA-GCC

“It’s a privilege to be selected to lead GCC and I look forward to continuing to grow the organization. We remain committed to delivering high value and meeting our customers’ needs through leading-edge technology,” said Escalante, who has served as president of GCC of America since 2000, a year after being appointed to head the Mexico division. Escalante had more than 20 years’ experience in management and sales positions in heavy industry and construction materials. He is a graduate of the Technologic Institute of Monterrey with an engineering degree and earned an MBA from Cornell University.

With this change, Ron Henley, vice president of ready mix and aggregates for GCC of America will succeed Escalante as president of the company’s U.S. division. Henley started with GCC of America in 2012 as vice president of its logistics/supply chain department. In 2013, he assumed his current role. Prior to joining GCC, Henley was president of Boral Construction Materials. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting.

After the 2008 completion of the new plant in Pueblo, Colo., GCC has reached an installed annual capacity of 4.4 million tons of cement production: 2.4 million output from the three plants in the U.S., and 2 million from three plants in Mexico.
