Membrane Dryers Kaeser Compressors' Membrane Dryers produce dewpoints from -40 to 50 F. The dryers feature a bundle of tube-shaped membranes, which allow only water vapor to pass. At the discharge end, a small amount of dry compressed air sweeps the water vapor out of the dryer. The light-weight dryers work well in severe conditions such as high and low temperatures and corrosive and explosive environments, according to the company. The dryers are made of ABS plastic and aluminum so they can be installed outdoors without corroding. Kaeser Compressors, (+1) 540-898-5500

Secondary Belt Cleaner The Martin In-Line Secondary Belt Cleaner from Martin Engineering features slide-in/slide-out blade replacement. The design of the belt cleaner aligns 4-in.-wide blade segments into a unitary cleaning edge and the blade segments slide into place in a cartridge that in turn slides over a steel mainframe into cleaning position on the return side of a belt conveyor. Engineered for tight spaces, the belt cleaner system with mounting brackets requires a space below the belt of only 9 11/44 in. wide and 13 in. tall. The cleaning tips are mounted in rugged urethane bases that flex under belt motion, keeping the cleaning edge in contact with the belt's changing profile while allowing relief for the passage of mechanical belt splices. Valve Actuators Jordan Controls, Inc. introduced the 1000 series of Process Variable Valve Actuators, which combines a process loop controller and electric actuator. The units are full-featured actuators designed to be used with control valves and are capable of accepting a standard analog DC current control signal. A brushless stepper motor provides smooth, highly accurate positioning, with positive-lock when not in motion. The actuators may be mounted in any position, are permanently lubricated, have a self-locking drive system, and come with a full one-year warranty. Jordan Controls, (+1) 414-461-9200
Filter Bags W.L. Gore & Associates introduced a version of its Amazon filter bags for dry particulate filtration. Designed for pulse jet baghouses operating up to 400 F, the bags are made of Gore-Tex membrane. The membrane is laminated to high quality aramid felt, which contains a scrim. To withstand the deteriorating effects of hydrolysis and acids, the filter bags feature a proprietary hydrolysis-resistant treatment. This treatment permeates the entire felt, creating a protective coating that shields against temperature, moisture, and chemicals. The microporous structure of the Gore-Tex membrane surface, an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, allows gases to pass through while capturing even sub-micron-sized particulate. W.L. Batch Loading System Pebco Inc., in collaboration with FGR Automation & Controls and Pebco Australia Pty., developed a fully automated train batch weighing and loading system. The loading system structure consists of a surge bin directly over a weigh bin, which is mounted on load cells certified for sale by weight. Four double-blade slide gates located beneath the surge bin control the product flow into the weigh bin. During batching, these gates are closed in sequence as the weight increases toward the target weight. The system uses two telescoping loading chutes. As one chute lowers, the flow control gate opens and floods the front of the car and then loads the back of the car as the train continues to move forward. Pebco, (+1) 270-442-1996

Discharge Machines Decker Industries offers the Bunker Discharge Machine and Silex Silo Discharge Machine. The Bunker discharge machine is available in different designs, according to the application, bulk material's nature, and size of the system, such as: Block-Bunker, Low Profile-Bunker, and Portal-Bunker. Special designs are also available, including Discharge Wheel Lock, Table Feeder, and Bin Activator. The Silex discharge machine is composed of a silo bottom, internal cone, discharge arm and drive, integrally mounted in the silo or bin. The silo bottom has a central discharge opening, which is covered by the internal cone, with a gap in the floor. During the filling of the silo, a natural angle of repose is formed under the internal cone sealing the discharge opening. The discharge arm, which rotates around the central vertical axis, conveys the bulk material on the silo bottom into the discharge opening. Controlled discharge of the bulk material is accomplished by varying the speed of the drive. The discharge arm undercuts the silo wall eliminating any material buildup on the wall edges, according to the company. Decker Industries, (+1) 803-831-1001
