The iVISOR mentor QVGA (graphic) load moment indicator (LMI) for mobile cranes provides the operator with a graphic display of the crane and the current load and geometric information, including the actual and allowable load, boom length, boom angle, and load radius. The display also includes an integrated bargraph, which provides the operator with information on the cranes utilization. The graphic display has a resolution of 320 × 240 pixels and includes BestVIEW technology, which automatically adjusts the contrast depending on the temperature and lighting conditions. The system's central processing unit and operator's console are integrated into one compact unit making for easy installation. In addition to the freely programmable control functionality, two CANopen interfaces enable networking with other controls and displays. The LMI system can be used as a CANopen master or as a CANopen slave. It can also communicate with other CAN Bus capable devices via the CAN Bus interfaces which support the CANopen protocol and J1939. The iVISOR mentor QGVA also provides the flexibility of optional Working Area Definition (WADS), event recorder, and the use of wireless sensors. Hirschmann Automation and Control, (+1) 717-217-2216

BAG DUMP STATIONS
These bag dump stations are compact, self-contained units built to eliminate the labor, waste, and potential health hazards associated with the spillage and dust normally caused when bagged materials are introduced into processing systems. Construction is 304 stainless steel, with welded interior and exterior. Each station consists of a large collection hopper topped by a bar grate and hinged door, an integral pulse jet filtration unit equipped with polyester cartridge filters, and a 2-hp, 865-cfm fan. When the hopper's door is opened, the fan automatically starts to ensure that any dust is drawn through the filter. Programmable pulses of reverse air periodically dislodge the material that collects on the surfaces of the cartridge filters and allow it to fall into the collection hopper. The sloped sides of the hopper angle toward the hopper's discharge port, which can be joined to gravity-fed spouting or to an airlock and pneumatic line. The manufacturer also makes airlocks that are available in fabricated and machined models for gravity feeds, pneumatic systems, and volumetric discharge devices. Airlanco, (+1) 800-500-9777

X-RAY DIFFRACTOMETER
This company announced the introduction of the Ultima IV x-ray diffractometer, an advanced general purpose X-ray diffraction (XRD) instrucment for materials science, semiconductor, and nanotechnology, as well as quality assurance for the manufacturing environment. The design features a high-speed detector for 100X faster measurements, application flexibility provided by patented Cross Beam Optics (CBO), and a 50% small size than a conventional X-ray diffraction system. The unit can span applications that would have required as many as four separate conventional XRD instruments. A modular build-up platform allows users to include additional capabilities as new application requirements arise, including support for high-resolution diffraction, thin film measurement, micro diffraction, and handling very small samples. The CBO mechanism allows users selectable switching between either a focusing or parallel incident X-rary beam with resetting or realigning the optical setting. Both system geometries are permanently mounted and aligned to allow easy changeover for different applications. Rigaku, (+1) 281-362-2300
