According to the manufacturer, its new Gold Series GS-Mini single-cartridge dust collector provides high performance for small (sub-500 cfm) applications. It may be used as a dedicated dust collector for one process machine or as a bin vent on a silo. Like other collectors in the company's “Gold Series” line, product developers note, the GS-Mini offers high strength, durability and ease of service. Its HemiPleat filter cartridge reportedly provides 99.99 percent filtration efficiency on 0.5-micron and larger particles. The cartridge features a patent-pending, open-pleat media design for extended service life and lower pressure drop compared to standard cartridges, the manufacturer affirms — typically double the life at half the delta P. The open-pleat design also allows more effective pulse cleaning. The GS-Mini comes with filter, spark-proof fan, manual pulse system, and pressure-drop gauge. Options include an automatic timer controller, heavy-duty casters, a quick-release dust drawer, and bin vent configuration. Farr Air Pollution Control, (+1) 800-479-6801

BAG DUMPS
This firm's bag dump stations are compact, self-contained units built to eliminate the labor, waste, and potential health hazards associated with the spillage and dust normally caused when bagged materials are introduced into processing systems. Construction is 304 stainless steel, with welded interior and exterior. Each station consists of a large collection hopper topped by a bar grate and hinged door; an integral pulse jet filtration unit equipped with polyester cartridge filters; and a 2-hp, 865-cfm fan. When the hopper's door is opened, the fan automatically starts to ensure that any dust is drawn through the filter. Programmable pulses of reverse air periodically dislodge the material that collects on the surfaces of the cartridge filters and allow it to fall into the collection hopper. The sloped sides of the hopper angle toward the hopper's discharge port, which can be joined to gravity-fed spouting or to an airlock and pneumatic line. The company also makes airlocks that are available in fabricated and machined models.
