AUTOMATED TRUCK IDENTIFICATION

Article Tools

  • Bookmark

This company introduces a new family of unattended kiosk products that automatically identify trucks as they enter the yard. They can be configured to allow drivers to select the customer, job, destination, and product for reduced data entry time and potential keying errors. In-yard (gate-to-gate) times are automatically tracked for performance monitoring, with initial customers reporting performance improvements of up to 50% with the new kiosks. The kiosks utilize a RFID proximity card reader for reliable identification in adverse environments. Optional Laser Light LED message boards can direct trucks to proper loading destinations. Tickets can be printed remotely so that drivers never need to leave their trucks. When combined, these features significantly improve efficiency and throughput. BMG Seltec, (+1) 925-373-3200

POINT LEVEL PRODUCT GUIDE

The company's interactive point level product guide is now available on a single CD. The guide is a reference took for anyone who specifies or buys level instruments for liquid, solids, or slurries. This extensive multimedia guide assists in selecting the most suitable point level device for any application. The guide includes “review my application” software, which takes customer-supplied answers from on-screen lists and uses the answers to compute and display the point level products best suited to the process. The CD also contains presentations for rotary paddle, RF capacitance, vibrating, and mechanical point level sensors. Each product presentation is broken into discrete modules. The company's product literature and information on its SecureCar customer service program also are included on the disc. Monitor Technologies, (+1) 800-601-5953

HARD COMPOUND

Kalcret, a cement-bonded, wear-protective hard compound, can be cast of troweled to achieve a continuous lining for system components on vertical, inclined, and curved surfaces. It also can be supplied in precast engineered tile shapes for mechanical attachment. With wear resistance and high compressive strength, the product can provide protection in a variety of process equipment and is best suited for handling abrasive products such as cement, sand, and coal. Hi-temp formulas of Kalcret can be used in applications as high as 2,192°F and when using precast shapes can be installed at temperatures below 41°F. Abresist Corp., (+1) 800-348-0717

LEVEL INDICATOR

The AutoSet MK7 level indicator provides the user with visual indication of the set values. This added advantage allows simpler, on-site adjustment and set-up via a push-button membrane and large four-digit LED display.

The AutoSet MK7 is used for high- or low-level control of liquids, powders, and free-flowing granular solids stored in tanks, bins, and silos. With its build-up compensation circuit and power-shield, the AutoSet MK7 is not affected by material build-up, and can be side or top mounted. Stainless steel probes come in many lengths up to 33 ft. For high temperature or vibration applications, a remote version is also available. 4B Components Ltd., (+1) 309-698-5611

LASER ALIGNMENT SYSTEM

Rotalign Ultra features a large scratch-proof backlit color screen and backlit keyboard ideal for any working condition, day or night, indoor or out. Intuitive navigation guide the user through any alignment task from simply pump/motor through complex machine trains of up to 14 machines. The system uses patented single-beam technology with a 5-axis, two-plane sensor and built-in electronic position detector. Accurate data for shimming and horizontal correction are obtained from the patented continuous “sweep” measure mode, even at small angle rotation. The Ultra offer USB and Bluetooth connectivity for interface with printers and PCs, allowing alignment reports to be produced in full color. Machine graphics are used for both screen display and printed reports. The lightweight computer is powered by a rechargeable battery and is water-, shock- and dustproof to IP65. AIR FLOW MEASUREMENT

Online air flow measurement in hot dusty application has been almost impossible with existing devices, but the dust is utilized with this new system. In cement plants, applications for this unit are the raw mill discharge to control the ID fan, tertiary air flow up to 2,000°F, air flow through the finish mill to control the consistency of the grind, primary air to control flame shape, and several other points. Velocity measurement is performed by a pair of sensors aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the duct. Electrical signals created by dust particles at this pair of sensors are cross correlated and referenced by their time shift. The result is the average velocity over the effective length of the sensor. A 4-20ma signal is provided for each measurement location. In various configurations, the measuring cabinet can monitor from 4 to 48 applications. Rugged sensors for high temperature and abrasion with no pressure drop, no drift, no calibration, and no scheduled maintenance. Promecon USA, (+1) 330-683-9074

MOTORIZED PULLEYS

Rulmeca Corp. recently announced they will assemble motorized pulleys in Wilmington, N.C., beginning June 2005. The pulleys, which are build specifically for belt conveyors, are designed with the motor and gearbox hermetically sealed in the steel shell, making them compact and safe in harsh environments. The pulleys have fewer frictional losses from the electrical motor to the shell than exposed drives, allowing efficiencies to 97%, according to the manufacturer. Maintenance is minimal, requiring an oil change only every 10,000 operating hours or five years of single-shift operation. Rulmeca Corp., (+1) 910-794-9294
