LEVEL MEASUREMENT

The MT2000 guided wave radar interface level transmitter needs only one probe to measure fluid interface levels in a variety of continuous measurement applications. This simplifies installation and setup, reduces costs, and minimizes maintenance, says the manufacturer. Using guided wave radar, the device can measure both the top surface (total level) and interface level in tanks containing a variety of fluids. The radar signal travels along a waveguide, eliminating false echoes and minimizing signal loss. The unit provides a weak interface signal detector and multiple configurations, allowing it to handle dirty or clean applications. A transmitter is able to withstand severe environments of up to 5,000 psi and 800°F. K-TEK, (+1) 225-673-6100

• BROKEN BAG DETECTOR

The DustAlarm broken bag detector uses triboelectric technology to provide economical dust monitoring, and can be used for broken bag and leaking filter detection in bag houses, cartridge collectors, cyclones, or any other dust collector. Dust particle collisions with the stainless steel probe generate an electric signal. The electronics continually monitor for this signal, and then provide an alarm output to indicate changes in filter condition. The device lets the user know when to replace filters and protects blowers from damage. DustAlarm is designed to minimize false signals. The electronics include sensitivity, alarm level, and time delay adjustments. A multi-colored LED provides local indication of an alarm state. A NEMA 4 housing delivers optimal protection for the electronics, as well as access to all adjustments. Plug-in terminal blocks and cable glands simplify wiring and commissioning. PULVERIZED COAL FEEDING SYSTEM

Two new models of this company's Multicor pulverized coal feeding systems are now available. The K50 and K80 are well suited to feeding pulverized coal to rotary kilns in cement production, according to the maker. The new systems offer shock pressure proof to 16 bar and precise measuring accuracy due to the Coriolis principle. The units' small size allows for installation where space is limited. Additionally, the K50 model provides a throughput volume to 50 1765 cu ft. per hour with accuracies of 0.5% when measuring less than 1 tph. The K80 mel provides 2,825 cu ft. per hour throughput volume with accuracies of 0.5% when measuring less than 2 tph. Both models have a maximum operating temperature of 212°F. STELLAR MATERIALS ACQUIRES LARGEST THERMBOND DISTRIBUTOR

Stellar Materials recently acquired its leading product distributor, the Thermbond Refractory Group of John Zink Company, LLC. “This acquisition provides us with a talented team of nine technical sales people and two technical service people with a deep knowledge of Thermbond refractories,” said David Mintz, vice president of Stellar Materials. The acquisition also positions Stellar to substantially expand its business domestically and internationally as the new employees are located in the U.S and Europe.

Over the last seven years, the Thermbond Refractory Group of John Zink had been the largest distributor of Thermbond refractories in the world. As part of the acquisition, key personnel appointments at Stellar Materials include, Tom Atkins, previously the manager of this group, will become the director of worldwide sales and marketing for Stellar Materials. Marcel Grootveld, based in Rotterdam, will become director of sales for Europe and the Middle East. Ted Hagberg, based in Houston, will become director of sales for the Southern Region and Hydrocarbon Processing Industries. Jens Decker, based in Frankfurt, will become director of technical services.

In addition to these appointments, Sales and Sales Manager positions were retained Pennsylvania, Missouri, Arizona, France, Texas, Florida, and Louisiana. Engineering and Installation Services personnel remain located in New York, Texas, and Germany. For more information, call (+1) 800-338-7555.

CONVEYOR-BELT SKIVER

The compact FSK belt skiver enables fast removal of conveyor-belt cover material when countersinking mechanical splices. Employing an integral ratchet-driven roller design, the hand-operated tool carves a flat-bottomed trough as deep as ⅜ in. in a single pass. Multiple-pass capability allows deeper skiving in rubber and synthetic belts up to 1¼ in. thick. A range of user-selected widths accommodates varying belt fastener sizes. The self-contained unit rides the belt end, does not require a separate guide track and winch, and eliminates the need to nail down the belt. The lightweight skiver also eliminates the danger and results of hand-knife skiving. The skived belt cover comes off in one continuous strip, eliminating airborne debris and dust that can result from using powered grinders. Operating begins with simply manual adjustments for desired skive depth and width. With the skiver properly positioned and secured on the belt end, users ratchet to tool across the width of the belt with one hand while guiding the tool with the other. Two pairs of rollers — each featuring a serrated upper and smooth lower roller — clamp the belt as the serrated rollers grip the top cover and drive the skiver, pulling a special steel blade through the belting. The portable skiver measures 11½ in. long, 8¼ in. wide, and 6 in. tall, and weighs less than 20 lbs. The tool includes attached ratchet and is maintained by oil or silicone lubrication. Replacement blades are available separately. Flexco, (+1) 630-971-0150

AGGREGATE DIVERTER

Offering a heavy-duty, maintenance-free diverter capable of handling abrasive materials in gravity flow application, the company's unit is available in a size range from 6 to 24 in. and may be ordered with optional “dead pocket” inlet and honeycombed bucket deflector. Other options include abrasion-resistant9 polymer or honeycombed chute liners. Interior bucket seals increase material handling efficiency, promote smooth bucket actuation, and minimize material migration to the off leg. A removable access panel allows inspection or maintenance of the diverter without removing it from service. Salina Vortex Corp., (+1) 785-825-7177

GRAPHIC TERMINAL

The company's IND310-drive graphic terminal is said to improve inbound and outbound weighing transactions. The terminal includes flexible database tables, quick ID indexes, configurable soft keys, and condition-based monitoring. The system is ideal for controlling inventory, valuing transactions, and ensuring the ability to ship as many loads possible without exceeding highway limits. The terminal was designed to support two vehicle scales, allowing for inbound and outbound weighing on separate scales. The unit has the option of analog, digital, or combination load cell technologies. Additionally, scale upgrades can occur from analog to digital without replacing the terminal technology. The system is powered with the company's condition-based monitoring technology TraxEMT. Mettler Toledo, Inc., (+1) 800-523-5123

DUST COLLECTOR

The company's TubeJet dust collector can be custom-built to accommodate available space to remove airborne slag. Because of the abrasive nature of the dust, the collector handles 12,000 acfm at a conservative air-to-cloth ratio of 4:1. The singed polyester filter bags employed by the collector can be replaced from the top of the unit in a no-tools-needed process. The collector's vents screens, belt transfers, bucket elevators, and two crushers. Sly, Inc., (+1) 800-200-9526

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING

The PressurePro tire pressure monitoring system continuously monitors pressure of all vehicle tires and displays them in a digital readout in the vehicle's cab. The pressure of as many as 34 tires is shown, allowing the driver to monitor leaks and schedule repairs or replacement without breakdowns or downtime. Audible and visual alerts notify the driver of low-pressure conditions. The system features duplicate signals that minimize the effects of electronic interference, weather, and other trucks, making it ideal for rubber-tired loaders and excavators as well as trucks of all types. Installation of the system requires replacing existing valve caps with sensors, mounting the monitor on the dash, and hooking up a standard two-wire power supply.
