Continual wear is one of the most costly factors in the cement industry. It occurs in pipelines, separators, cyclones, bunkers, chutes, fan housings for conveying, raw meal, coal, clinker, and clinker dust, causing significant damage over time. BEcause of steady growth in the size and capacity of cement plants, wear protective linings have become an increasingly important factor.
Abresist Corp. of Urbana, Ind., provides protective linings that are universally suitable for the cement industry. The linings are made from fused cast basalt, available for use at temperatures to 650°F. The addition of Kalcor zirconium corundum, or Alresist high-alumina ceramics, can provide protection for high temperatures or extremely abrasive materials. Kalcret hard compound provides flexible use and temperature-resistant qualities for jointless or complicated shape component linings.
One example of a successful lining is the raw meal separator. At one plant, cement-based linings had a service life of three to four months. The installation of Abresist linings significantly extended the service life and generated an additional order for linings of two more separators at the same plant.
The use of linings on problematic components can add up to substantial savings and add significant service life. The protective linings also reduce the cost of replacement parts, operational downtime, plant clean up, and maintenance work in the industry. There also are ecological benefits. Modern clinker kiln systems permit the use of residues that contain significant heat values from the portions of rubber, used wood, or residue. This generally abrasive material normally cannot be recycled for other uses. Abresist Corp., (+1) 800-348-0717

Protective Skin Lotion
According to the manufacturer, Gloves in a Bottle turns the outer layer of skin into what works like an invisible pair of gloves to keep the moisture-robbing irritants out while retaining the body's own natural moisture. The lotion is devised for those working in harsh environments because it binds with the skin to protect against cracking and drying from latex gloves or cold weather. Many workplace chemicals are absorbed into the skin, as well, causing skin disorders or dry cracked skin. While conventional lotions attempt to replace natural moisture with artificial moisture, but they come off when the wearer washes or touches something. Gloves in a Bottle is said to be virtually undetectable once dry, lasts four hours, and comes off naturally with exfoliated skin cells. Gloves in a Bottle, (+1) 800-600-1881

Emission Analyzer
The company offers the GreenLine 4000 portable gas analyzer. This multifunctional unit is ideal for industrial service and maintenance purposes including boilers, heaters, and other domestic and industrial applications. For flue gas analysis, the unit can be equipped with as many as five gas sensors (O2, CO, NOx, SO2, HxCy); CO sensor with manual or automatic protection; built-in impact printer; flame ionization sensor; flammable gas leak detector; draft & differential pressure meter; and temperature and humidity meter. Belt Cleaners
Two secondary cleaners have been added to the company's line of high-performance belt cleaners for vulcanized belts. They are said to deliver continuous cleaning power with versatile mounting options anywhere on the belt line. Both the ProV VP and ProV VX secondary cleaners feature 6-in. tungsten carbide V-Tip blade, as well as secondary spring tensioners that provide consistent, self-adjusting blade-to-belt tensioning. The VP blades meet the belt at a 90° angle, and the unique blade cushion segments conform to the irregular contours of the belt for effective cleaning across the belt's entire width. The cleaner can be mounted in the chute area, in front of a snub pulley, or anywhere down the line. Optimal mounting is 4 in. from the transition point where the belt leaves the head pulley. Heavy-duty components ensure repair-free wear. The VX cleaner features a patent-pending cushion design that pushes blade up to the belt. The V-Tip blade penetrates and removes the most abusive, sticky, wet carryback materials from the belt. The VX can be installed anywhere on the beltline from the bottom of the head pulley on down. In addition, the new cleaners include the VH Precleaner and two special-duty precleaners for high-performance cleaning on the head pulley. Parramatta Group, (+1) 815-609-7025
