According to the manufacturer, the Turbo-Inductor System offers a fast, efficient means to unload bulk materials from pneumatic trailers at high rates over long distances — without any modifications to the trailer. Engineered to fit the demands of a particular facility, each system is self-contained and comes mounted on a modular skid that includes the Turbo-Inductor, a blower sized for the application, hose connections, and a NEMA-4 panel that automatically controls airflow based on line pressure. To operate, the bulk trailer's standard 4- or 5-in. material discharge hose is connected to the Turbo-Inductor, which balances flow and mixes additional air into the conveyed material as it enters 6-in., 8-in. or larger lines for conveying to the destination point(s). By adding a controlled volume of air to the conveyed bulk material, the system delivers more product down the larger-diameter convey line for faster turnaround time and greater savings, developers note. Plus, enhanced flexibility allows optimization of the existing plant layout by using multiple unloading locations. Further, all elements of the unloading operation are accounted for in the design of the system, so blower capacity, air pressure in the lines, and dust collection are balanced for operating efficiency and proper dust control. Ultrasonic Flaw Detection

The ShafTest portable ultrasonic flaw detection system incorporates V-scan volumetric grid analysis, “zoom” capability, and 3-D cross-sectional views for the testing of large shafts and pins. It provides repeatable in-situ testing of shafts and axles in rail cars, ships, turbines, off-road machinery, induced/forced-draft fans, rock crushers, paper mills, coal mining machinery, pumps, compressors, and similar heavy equipment. Designed for operators with limited experience as well as to enhance expert capabilities, developers note, the system requires only shaft-end access, thereby avoiding equipment disassembly or multiple setups and scans in confined situations. Test results can be analyzed off-line to further minimize equipment downtime, and highly reproducible tests allow accurate comparison of stored shaft signatures to monitor crack growth over time.

ShafTest results are reported in graphical format for ease of understanding. The analysis software highlights cracks and provides tools to plot ultrasonic cross-sections through the shaft at any depth by moving a slider along a screen image of the structure. Operators can zoom in on cracks, allowing them to be sized for future progression monitoring. Packed in an industrial-strength case and fully sealed against water and dust, the portable ShafTest system features UT probes, CCD video camera for V-Scan grid positioning, and a rugged notebook PC with proprietary software. It carries NEMA 12 and IP52 ratings and will withstand a 15g operating shock load. Uni-Tech Engineering, (+1) 205-685-9431

Hydraulic Atomizing Nozzle

The stainless steel IceJet features a whirl chamber inside the nozzle that atomizes fluid without the need for compressed air. Coupled with a micro-orifice, the chamber creates a fine mist with droplet sizes less than 30 microns. The nozzle can deliver a flow rate of 0.15 gal. per min. at 3,000 psi. Also incorporating a stainless steel mesh strainer, the IceJet reportedly offers such benefits as superior spray distribution, streak-free spraying, and elimination of compressed air costs for such applications as turbine cooling, humidification, and evaporative cooling. Remote HVAC Monitoring

The ExactAire system allows monitoring and configuring of temporary dehumidification, cooling and heating equipment on job sites via a secure web site. Company representatives note that the ExactAire system in combination with any of its climate-control equipment can be used to monitor such environmental components as dew point, surface temperature, and relative humidity — according to parameters determined by the customer. It records climate control conditions on an onboard memory chip and transmits that data hourly to a secure web site, where the customer can access the information with a password and download it to a text or pdf file. Alert messages are customized to provide signals via pager, PCS, e-mail, or text message on a cellular telephone. The customer is thus alerted to a problem before the blast turns and damage has occurred. A battery backup enables ExactAire to send a “power failure” message, if the generator shuts down or there is any loss of power. Although adaptable to a variety of temporary humidity- or temperature-control functions, the system is primarily designed for tank coating applications, where a message is relayed when the surface temperature approaches the dew point or the tank is out of the specified humidity range. Powered by a 110-volt line, 12-volt DC current or by solar collector, the ExactAire provides fuel cost savings because it has the ability to turn the unit on and off to maintain conditions. Hydraulic Shim Kits

To reduce downtime and maximize production, hydraulic shim kits help maintain desired gap settings on the company's crushers. They also eliminate wrench turning to raise or lower the apron assembly. Designed to keep impactors crushing to size, the kits include lift bridge weldments as well as hydraulic cylinders for both front and rear apron assemblies, a three-spool control valve to actuate housing or apron cylinders, shims, counterbalance valves on both cylinders for added safety should one of the hydraulic lines fail, and all necessary hydraulic hoses and fittings. When apron gaps need adjusting due to wear, adding or removing shims involves first implementing lockout/tag procedures before raising the apron by means of the hydraulic cylinder on the lift bridge, which is controlled by a valve mounted on the housing. After unlocking the shim fasteners, shims are added or removed as needed to reach or maintain the required gap setting. Shim fasteners are locked and the hydraulic cylinder is lowered to return to crushing. Stedman, (+1) 800-262-5401

Calorimeter

The AC500 Calorimeter determines the gross calorific content in coals, cokes, and fuel oils. ASTM/DIN-approved, the AC500 Isoperibol Calorimeter features an integral water-measuring and combustion-vessel filling station as well as a fully integrated circulation system. An optional kit allows a string-ignition combustion vessel, eliminating the need for fuse wires. The unit offers three modes of results: Regnault-Pfaundler (20 min. analysis time; Precision (8 min. analysis time); and, Predictive (4.5 to 7.5 min. analysis time). Windows-based operating software controls up to four AC500 units and supports compliance to strict regulations mandated by the FDA (21 CFR Part 11). Leco Corp., (+1) 800-292-6141

Bin Aerator

The Evasser bin aerator is said by the manufacturer to promote the flow of dry bulk powders from a storage vessel — without the noise and damaging vibration of pneumatic or electric vibrators. The compact unit has an effective radius of 12 inches. To accommodate most bulk powder and granular solid applications, several system configurations are available. The Evasser — offered in cast iron or 316 stainless steel — can be supplied with either a standard black or FDA-approved white Neoprene boot; a sintered metal insert is provided for high-pressure or high-temperature applications where the boot is not acceptable. Each of the configurations is available with or without an external mounting plate. The Evasser suits cement, carbon black and flour applications. Monitor Technologies LLC, (+1) 800-601-5953
