Powder Rheometer

According to the manufacturer, the FT3 Powder Rheometer is designed to overcome the problems of traditional methods of assessing the flowability and processability of powders, whose inherent complexity and changeability make their characterization notoriously difficult. The FT3 evaluates flow properties in a small sample of material (10ml-300ml) by first preconditioning it to produce a consistent bed, and then measuring the torque, force and energy in the test chamber as a blade traces a precise helical path through the powder. For fast and straightforward routine measurements, standard programs are automated to produce highly repeatable results in just a few minutes. Resulting data provide flow rate and compaction indices — numbers that define key variables affecting flowability. Where particular factors, such as electrostatic charge effects, moisture content or storage temperatures, for example, are thought to be causing processing variability, the FT3 facilitates detailed investigation, developers note. In each case, even small rheological variations can be detected and analyzed. Additionally, characterizing and classifying powders with the FT3 allows the creation of databases, which can be used as a reference for formulating new materials, resolving processing difficulties or providing quality control specifications. Autoweigh Feeder

Designed for demanding heavy-duty applications, the 1200/3600 Series of high-capacity weigh feeders is said to provide solid performance — maximizing profitability by optimizing blend consistency, reducing downtime and improving accountability and record keeping — in rugged operating environments common to mining, aggregates, cement, minerals and other process industries. The weighbridge features a patented dual-idler, stainless steel, torque-shaft suspension with no moving parts that serves to eliminate material build-up and reduces dead load as live load is applied to the cells. Completely encapsulated and hermetically sealed load cells guard against contamination from dust, moisture or corrosion, resulting in high reliability and low maintenance.

Adaptable for various applications, the 1200/3600 Series is available in a range of belt widths from 460 mm (18 in.) to 1,830 mm (72 in.), lengths from 2.35 m (79 in.), and with various inlet configurations and materials of construction. Options include a cantilevered frame for easier endless belt replacement, mechanical skirting, return belt ploughs, belt misalignment switches, emergency pull-cords, de-dusting hoods, sample gates, special belt construction and belt flanging.

Standard components comprise belt weigh bridge, speed sensor, and test weights, all supported by state-of-the-art microprocessor-based integrators for easy blending, batching and feed-rate control.

  • Heavy-duty design for high feeding capacity
  • Heavy-duty 127-mm (5-in.)-diameter idlers
  • Large 305-mm (12-in.)-diameter (Series 1200) to 914-mm (36-in.)-diameter (Series 3600) head and tail pulleys to maximize traction
  • Heavy-duty pillow block and take-up bearings
  • Spring-tensioned belt cleaner
  • Fast installation, easy maintenance

Inventory Management System

Designed to provide accurate and reliable inventory management information for tanks and silos, according to the manufacturer, the Mark III Yo-Yo system is FM-approved and rated for use in hazardous environments. The sensor — housed in an explosion-proof, polyester-coated, cast aluminum housing — may be interfaced to a computer, PLC or the company's solid-state readout, which displays levels to the nearest 0.1 ft. or 1.0 cm as a weight is lowered into the vessel. Optional sensing weights make the Mark III Yo-Yo system a suitable choice for inventory management in dry material or liquids, free-flowing applications and liquid/solid interface. U-Shaped Belt Cleaner

Flexco's Eliminator Belle Banne U-Type LS curved-blade conveyor belt cleaner is designed to serve tight-clearance applications, the company said. The U-type LS allows maximum secondary cleaning immediately behind a primary head pulley cleaner or within the discharge chute. The LS model has a tungsten carbide-tipped blade that removes wet or sticky carryback. According to the company, the curved blade enables it to bridge across the recessed fasteners without impact damage. Flexco offers two types of blade construction: the tungsten carbide blade and a specially formulated urethane blade for applications in which fasteners are not countersunk into the belt cover.
