Designed for such demanding applications as truck scales, warehouse scales and landfills, LaserLight remote display uses IntelliBright, a sensing feature that automatically adjusts the display intensity for optimum viewing under all ambient lighting conditions. From a distance of over 220 ft., the high-intensity LED display reportedly provides a sharp, easy-to-read image of weight values, while its nonglare lens prevents washout in direct sunlight. LaserLight displays are available in 4-in. or 6-in. digit sizes with annunciators for gross, net, lb, and kg standard on both. Optional features include time and date as well as temperature. According to the manufacturer, the system is easy to program, install, and maintain. Its light gray, heat-resistant enclosure opens from the bottom, which allows for easy access to the electronic components and prohibits moisture ingress. The LaserLight comes with Auto Learn mode, which automatically identifies the communications format and data rate used by an indicator, thus facilitating installation in retrofit applications. Wear Monitor System

Abresist Corp. introduces the Kaldetect wear monitor system as a means of detecting wear in its protective linings. A low-voltage electrical circuit is fitted to the OD of the company's linings in pipe or fittings. If the lining wears through, the circuit is interrupted and an alarm is triggered. The system can indicate which pipe section is affected and automatically shuts down plant operation. It also helps prevent spilling hazardous material while reducing the loss of raw materials and the cost of cleanup and downtime. Abresist Corp., (+1) 800-348-0717

Acoustic Sensor

The Senaco AS100 acoustic sensor detects changes in high-frequency sound waves from equipment and materials in motion. It detects and reacts instantly to changes in solids flow to warn of blockages, product absence, or equipment failure such as bust filter bags. This allows the operator to take early preventative action and avoid costly damage. Common applications include pellets, powders, and most bulk solids in pipes, chutes, vibratory feeders, pneumatic conveyors, or aerated gravity flow systems. Operating with a Senaco CU02 control unit, the system detects conditions of high flow, low flow, or no flow. It can be added to a control loop via a 4-20mA output. Two relays are fully programmable and independent of each other, and can be used to operate an alarm or control device. With no moving parts and a type 304 stainless-steel housing, the unit is sealed against dust and moisture. Siemens, (+1) 800-365-8766

Bin Aeration

The Flo-Pad bin aeration device fluidizes materials in bins, hoppers, and silos. Said by product developers to be virtually maintenance-free, the aeration device uses multiple Evassers mounted on a single air plenum chamber inside the vessel for a multi-directional air release. Among the advantages Flo-Pad offers are several features: (1) it fluidizes materials without the noise and damaging vibration caused by pneumatic or electric vibrators; (2) it uses multiple Evassers, which are less likely to be bound or clogged due to moisture, unlike other types of aerators that use cotton or canvas to diffuse the air; and, (3) the Evassers have a standard neoprene boot that prevents material back-flow by expanding to let the pressurized air out and contracting when the air is shut off. The most effective aeration of dry bulk materials is typically achieved by the use of multiple rows of Flo-Pads, one row located in each quadrant of the sloping bin bottom. The spacing between rows and individual Flo-Pads can vary from application to application. Units are available for high-pressure and high-temperature applications. Vibration Monitor

The low-cost, heavy-duty Model 191-25 Vibration Transmitter monitors vibration levels as high as 25 in. per sec. (2 in. peak-to-peak at 240 strokes per min.) on large conveyors, feeders, mixers, crushers and screening systems for aggregate processing. The Model 191 is loop-powered (24 VDC) and provides a 4-20mA output that is compatible with all PLCs, PCs and Digital Control Systems. The unit is intrinsically safe and is UL-Listed for use in hazardous locations. Balmac, Inc. (+1) 614-876-1296

Flex Tube Diverter

Company offers its three-way Flex Tube Diverter in larger 8-in. tube and pipe sizes. The device is suitable for medium- to l0w-abrasive products such as plastic pellets and fine minerals. Cross contamination of materials is eliminated as the sliding-port design shifts the conveying line from one port to the other. Allowing the conveyance of dry material from one source to any of three destinations, or from any of three sources to one destination, the valve provides smooth, unobstructed transition form inlet to outlet; supports flexible tubing and ensures material containment with stainless steel housing; and, offers shielded, wear-compensating seals as well as optional prewired, push-button control panel. In addition, the three-way diverter offers the following:

  • Standard gate construction comes with abrasion-resistant natural rubber hose and will handle applications up to 150°F. (Higher temperature models are available.)
  • Stainless steel hose is available for either moderately abrasive or high-temperature applications (-FS modification).
  • Valve can be installed vertically or horizontally for pneumatic conveying.
  • Inlet and outlet stubs — available in stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel — can be fitted with custom flanges.
  • Flex hose diverters are available with air cylinder actuator.

Digital Gas Analyzer

Modbus digital communications are now available on the 2200 oxygen analyzer, which consists of a paramagnetic oxygen measurement transmitter and a separate microprocessor-based control unit capable of accepting inputs from up to six transmitters for oxidation control and other process oxygen measurement requirements. Launched as a complementary product to the 1100A oxygen analyzer, the 2200 provides digital data communications to mainframe production control computers. The addition of Modbus interface capability gives the 2200 a wide range of digital communications capabilities, e.g., establishing master-slave/client-server communication between intelligent devices; programming and monitoring field devices using PCs and HMIs; and, interrogation of Servomex 2200 by production or health and safety computer control systems. Other important features of the 2200 paramagnetic oxygen measurement transmitter include an intrinsically safe 4-20 mA output with inputs for external pressure compensation and background gas cross interference compensation as standard. The transmitter is certified for use in zone 1/division 1 hazardous areas with a choice of control units suitable for either zone 1/division 1 or zone 2/division 2 areas. The instrument can be used with flammable gas samples, including hydrogen. Servomex, (+1) 508-243-6180

Compact Drives

The new, low-voltage ACS 800 drive family is the narrowest in the industry. The compact drives are available in NEMA 1 or NEMA 12 enclosures (without de-rating). All units are designed in a bookshelf style, and units range from 6.5-in.-wide, low-hp designs to freestanding 600 hp units that measure only 13.78 in. wide. The freestanding enclosures of the drives in the range from 150-600 hp turn easily to fit into deep, narrow spaces or wide, shallow spaces. Rated at supply voltages of 230V-690V, the ACS 800 is backward compatible with the previous ACS 600 family, as the parameters have the same name and scaling. ABB Inc., (+1) 262-780-5141
