Hygrometer The Moisture Monitor Series 35 IS comes in two portable, battery-powered models. One unit is a self-contained hygrometer with a sample system that includes a filter, moisture probe, isolation valves, and process connections. The other model uses an external moisture probe connected to the analyzer probe by a cable. The external probe may be remotely located as far as 600 meters (1,800 ft) from the analyzer. Measurement range is from ambient to parts per billion moisture concentrations. For dew/front point measurements, the calibration ranges from -110 degrees to 60 degrees C (-230 degrees to 140 degrees F). Response time is less than 5 seconds for a 63% step change in moisture content in either wet-up or dry-down cycles. Panametrics, (+1) 800-833-9438

Particle Sensor A new in-process particle sizing system has been designed specifically to cope with demanding process environments, such as pneumatically conveyed sand and cement, where the abrasive nature of samples to be analyzed can cause severe erosion in less robust technologies. This sensing system uses highly resistant ceramic materials throughout the sampling loop, especially in areas where the potential for erosion is greatest. The EPCS-CE model offers real-time monitoring of particle size distributions from 0.5 to 1,000 microns with measurement of particle concentrations from 1 to 10,000 ppm by volume. Data can be updated as often as once per second with high-speed measurement rates of as fast as 2 KHz. Results can be analyzed via configurable display and reporting formats or run through a built-in statistical analysis package. Malvern Instruments, (+44) 1684-892456 CIRCLE 178 ON READER CARD

Reverse Jet Scrubber The DynaWave reverse jet scrubber is an open duct in which liquid is injected counter-current to the gas through a non-restrictive injector. Liquid collides with downcoming gas to create the "froth zone," a region of extreme turbulence, with a high rate of liquid surface renewal. Through the balancing of the two streams' momentums, the liquid reverses direction and returns to the vessel sump for recycle back to the jet. The scrubber, which can be used in cement kilns and flue-gas desulfurization, uses non-corrosive material throughout its housing, and is said to offer flow rates of 1,000 to 200,000 acfm. The system has large bore liquid injectors and non-restrictive open vessels. Enviro-Chem Systems, (+1) 314-275-5700 CIRCLE 179 ON READER CARD

Filter Cartridges A range of wear control, disposable filter cartridges was developed specifically to improve performance and reduce maintenance costs in industrial fluid power systems for mining applications, according to the manufacturer. The cartridges incorporate a graded density filter media, comprising inorganic micro-glass fibers bonded with a stable resin, which provides particle removal. At the same time, the media design is said to ensure low, clean pressure drops, thereby extending the service life of the system. The cartridges are compatible with industrial lubricating and synthetic hydraulic oils, petroleum-based fluids, aqueous fluids, and other synthetic fluids within a temperature range of -40 degrees to 120 degrees C (-104 degrees to 248 degrees F). Filter pleats are supported with a polymeric or an epoxy-coated steel wire mesh. BTR Environmental Vokes, (+44) 1483-207243

Filter Replacement Kits A line of filter replacement service kits for its line of extractor/dryers is available. Kits are offered for this company's complete line of filtration products and include first- and second-stage elements, a base core, and all gaskets and seals. An optional slider gauge is available that indicates via a color change when filters need to be replaced. To change a filter, loosen the top bolts a few turns, remove the corner bolts, and the tubes containing the elements inside slide out. To replace the filter, insert the new elements, return them to the extractor/dryer, and retighten the bolts. La-Man, (+1) 800-348-2463

Mesh Screens These fine mesh screens include an extra screen barrier that is said to add life to the screen without hindering performance. The second screen takes the constant impact of the cleaner balls and cubes that stretch and wear on the fine mesh screens, while transferring the tap for cleaning of your screens. Replacement Clinker Grinder The arrangement of the seals on this replacement clinker grinder prevents the water seepage that other makes tend to display, according to the manufacturer. The tooth pattern on the grinding roll delivers more tooth presentations per revolution along with greater peak-crushing forces. The shaft, instead of being round, includes a square cross section that distributes torque more broadly and withstands deflection better, according to the manufacturer. In addition, the roll shell consists of six segments making them lighter and easier to handle. Models suitable for replacement of nearly all other clinker grinders now in use, including single- and double-roll models are offered. Pennsylvania Crusher, (+1) 610-544-7200

Conveyor System This enclosed belt conveyor system works as a single continuous belt that eliminates the need for transfer points. The belt is only open during loading and unloading; the returning section is closed, thus avoiding spilling and dust problems. The conveyor belts are folded to form a closed, pear-shaped bag. Steel cord reinforcements are vulcanized into the profiles of the belt. The profiles serve as tracks for the belt's angled support rollers and vertical guide rollers. The steel cords absorb all the tensile stress of the conveyor drive system. When the conveyor belt is folded together, one steel cord is above the other. Thus both cords have the same radius in curves, which means the belt can handle 180 degrees corners. Sicon, (+1) 614-387-3327

Bulk Bag Discharger This discharger is designed to keep outside contaminants from entering the product feed stream. All fittings in the machine utilize stainless steel with continuous welds throughout to facilitate cleaning and eliminate crevices. The discharger is available with a range of features, including loss-in-weight (with electronic load cells), electric bag hoist, bag massage, feed devices, and conveyors. Atomizing Nozzles FloMax air atomizing nozzles are designed to improve the efficiency of electrostatic precipitators by converting large volumes of liquid into small droplets. These nozzles are said to be especially effective where gas cooling and conditioning is needed to reduce resistivity of particulate to provide opacity correction at cement and clay refractories. Small droplets allow liquid to be entrained quickly allowing for complete absorption and reducing the potential for wetting. Options include five different full cone spray set-ups, with capacities ranging from 0.2 to 50 gpm; two nozzle bodies and special weld adapters; and lance assemblies built to specification with spray head angles of 0 degrees , 45 degrees, and 90 degrees . Nozzles and lances are offered standard in 316 stainless steel to withstand temperatures of 1,000 degrees F (524 degrees C). Spraying Systems (+1) 630-665-5201

Safety Switches Heavy-duty interlock switches have been developed with integral timers to control access to hazardous machines that have a run-down time. Working on the "trapped key" principle, the TDR-20 and TDI-20 are designed for use where access interlocks are fitted to the perimeter guard of a hazardous machine. Keys to these access interlocks are retained by the new interlock switches when the stop sequence of a machine in initiated and can only be released when a pre-set period exceeding the run-down time has elapsed. To ensure the safety of personnel once they have entered the area, the machine cannot be restarted until the keys are returned to the interlock switch. In both units, the release of keys is controlled by a heavy-duty, continuously rated solenoid whose position is monitored by two safety switches. Castell Safety, (+44) 181 200 1200

Dust Control A new dust control package is available in four sizes and is offered to medium and large applications in a range of industrial applications, handling dust loads to 50 g/m3. Everything in the system is fully enclosed, including the fan and compressed air supply. A filter area of between 120 and 320 m2 is available with a number of discharge options. A "clean change" option also is offered, which allows the elements to be withdrawn from the seal frame into a polythene bag, allowing for minimal contamination of the clean side of the unit. Removal of the elements is done using clamp bars, which locate into brackets on the seal frame. DCE, (+44) 116-269-6161
