Essroc Cement Corp. and Axim Concrete Technologies have dispatched a 52-ft. tractor and gooseneck trailer (see photo at left), the Axsis Mobile Tech Unit or “Technology at Work,” to Las Vegas for official unveiling at World of Concrete 2007 (Jan. 23-26). Engineered to provide customers and agencies on-site technical assistance, it was jointly developed by the companies, who note that Axsis is unique among North American admixture and cement players.
“The Mobile Tech Unit embodies commitment to delivering expert service in a reduced timeframe. Best practices are brought directly to the customer in a move that will provide an unprecedented delivery of service, troubleshooting and technical support,” explained Axim Director of Marketing Jim Wamelink. “Having the lab on our customers' job sites will increase their service efforts [and] product quality.” The lab will anchor comprehensive education programs for concrete producers, contractors, and design and engineering professionals, he added.
Axsis is equipped to perform tests on chemical and mineral admixtures, cements, aggregates, plus concrete and masonry specimens. Specific test offerings will include Concrete Equivalent Mortar Testing to Determine Cement/Admixture Performance and Rheology; Compressive Strength of Concrete and Masonry Elements; Vibratory Table for Dry Cast & RCC Pavement Applications; Sieve Shaker for Aggregate Gradations; Aggregate Packing Density; Concrete Maturity; Thermal Analysis; Specific Gravity; Masonry Cement Board Life; Microwave Assessment of W/CM; Entrained Air; and, Abrams Cone for Slump.
