New limestone-handling system is world's largest A circular stacking and reclaiming system for storage and premixing of limestone built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. is said to be the largest of its kind in the world.

With a stockpile diameter of about 125 meters and a capacity of 90,000 cu meters, the system is part of a cement production line that Kawasaki is building for PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa, Indonesia. In the middle of the stockpile, which is fully housed under a domed structure, the material is transferred from a conveyor to the system's stacker. The stacker has a 35-meter-long lifting and slewing boom, which can pile the limestone in a circle up to a height of 23.2 meters. The stacker, with a 2.2-meter-wide conveyor running at 2.1 meters per second, can handle 5,000 mtph.

A bridge-type scraper with a handling capacity of 750 mtph has been installed to reclaim the material from the stockpile and feed the cement plant. The scraper, with 2.2-meter-wide blades, moves around the stockpile on a circular track with a diameter of 126 meters.

Krupp Fordertechnik was responsible for the overall planning, procurement, and delivery of the system. The core bulk-handling components were produced partly by the company and partly by local manufacturers in Indonesia.
