Lafarge Dujiangyan Cement Co., Ltd., a Sino-French joint venture, has passed a four-month test run and commenced operations as the largest cement manufacturer in the western region of China. The 1.4 million-mtpy plant is set up by France's Lafarge Group and a local company in Dujiangyan City of Sichuan Province in southwest China. It also is the first turnkey project in China's cement industry. The general contractor on the project was China Building Materials Tangshan Corp.
