The board of directors of Swiss construction materials giant Holcim Ltd will propose to the 91st ordinary general meeting of shareholders on June 4, 2003, that Dr. Andreas von Planta be elected to its number. Von Planta is a partner with Lenz & Staehelin, an international law firm based in Geneva.

As announced earlier this year, von Planta would replace Dr. Peter Kurer, who, in accordance with Switzerland's corporate governance rules, be relinquishing his board mandate effective at the end of 2002 following his appointment to the Group Executive Board of UBS AG.
