Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Apache Hose & Belting Co., a supplier of conveyor belting and hose products and services, marked 40 years in business with its certification to the new ISO 9001:2000 standard. Upon the retirement of its founder, Robert South, in the mid-1980s, Apache's employees purchased his shares of the company, which is 100% employee owned. Apache has five locations throughout the Midwest.
Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corp. has launched its new online parts-ordering system to North American Daewoo dealers. The new system allows dealers to create personalized purchase orders, as well as to manage these orders to streamline the parts process. The online parts system is a new feature on the web site, which offers 24-hour access to parts inventory information, along with parts manuals for download.
Philadelphia Gear Corp., a provider of gearing and power transmission solutions, announced the addition of Michael Bashour to the newly created position of Southeast Regional Sales Representative. The Birmingham facility, the newest of the company's five regional service centers, will continue to provide the repair and overhaul response the facility was previously offering, in addition to full-service maintenance capabilities.
Martin Engineering, a supplier of systems to improve bulk material handling, announced the purchase of Scorpio Conveyor Products Ltd, of Witbank, South Africa, from Grinaker-LTA Limited. With this acquisition, Martin Engineering becomes the leading supplier of belt cleaning and sealing systems and installation and maintenance services to the South African mining industry.
The Parramatta Group has taken on the worldwide marketing responsibility for the Controlled Flow Material Transfer System (CFMTS), an exclusive processing technology. The announcement follows the acquisition of Tasman-Warajay, the Gladstone, Australia developers of the CFMTS, by Belle Banne Flexco Pty. Ltd., the Australian subsidiary of Flexible Steel Lacing Co. Parramatta Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Flexco, will manage Tasman-Warajay's operations as a separate division.
