Power and automation technology group ABB was awarded a contract to supply an Industrial IT technology solution and electrification to Midland Construction Corp.'s new Song Gianh cement plant in the Quang Binh province of SR Vietnam. Polysius AG of Germany, consortium leader for the Midlands project, placed the order.

ABB will deliver the complete electrical and automation equipment, engineering, design, training, supervision, and commissioning for the entire plant. The scope of supply includes power distribution, Drive medium and low-voltage motors and drives, Operate control systems, and Optimize optimization systems as well as communication and instrumentation systems. The delivery for the infrastructure comprises cables, lighting, earthing and lightning protection and the fire detection system.

The Song Gianh plant is located at Cuong Trung A and Cuong Trung B villages, Tien Hoa commune Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh province. The plant will have a production capacity of 4,000 tpd of clinker, with production scheduled to begin in 2005.
