The Slag Cement Association announced the release of a new publication designed to make it easier to use slag cement to earn points toward certification in the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environment (LEED) Green Building Rating System.

LEED-NC 2.1 Guide: Using Slag Cement in Sustainable Construction will be released in conjunction with this week's Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Atlanta. Designed to assist engineers and architects in specifying slag cement, the publication offers step-by-step guidance on using slag cement to points toward Sustainable Sites, Materials & Resources, and Innovation & Design credits. Sidebars examine successful sustainable projects and their incorporation of slag cement to meet specific goals. Technical guidance refers designers to strategies for getting the most out of their material. The Guide also is available for download at www.slagcement.org.
