Where cement and concrete are concerned, so is the Portland Cement Association: in manufacturing, raising the quality of construction, improving the product and its uses, and contributing to a better environment.
Portland Cement Association (PCA) conducts research, market development, and educational work on behalf of its members — cement companies in the United States and Canada. The makeup of today's PCA reflects these functions and the industry's diversity with a network of divisions and affiliate groups. This structure takes advantage of collaborations with allied organizations.
From Washington, D.C., and Ottawa, Ontario, respectively, the PCA government affairs council and the Cement Association of Canada (CAC) ensure a working dialogue between governments and the cement industry regarding legislation and regulation. Key governmental working areas are public works, energy and the environment, safety and health, and trade and taxation. In addition, CAC provincial offices work closely with the cement industry to provide regional support in market development and education.
Construction Technology Laboratories, Inc. (CTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of PCA, offers engineering, testing, and research services to the construction, transportation, mineral, and related industries.
The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) is the industry's arm for highways, streets, and airport paving, and is a joint effort of cement suppliers and paving contractors.
Manufacturing Technical Committee
The Manufacturing Technical Committee (MTC) is an association of cement manufacturers, consultants, and suppliers of equipment and materials. The MTC functions within the framework of the PCA to fulfill the industry's needs for continuous improvement of cement manufacture and product quality by facilitating the timely exchange of ideas and technical information. The MTC is comprised of technical task committees. Task committees include: Task Committee 1 — Materials Preparation and Finishing; Task Committee 2 — Pyroprocessing; Task Committee 3 — Auxiliary and Control Equipment.
