Portland Cement Association's Education Foundation awarded four $20,000 research fellowships to graduate students this year. The winning students, their university, and their research topics are:
Jason Ideker, University of Texas at Austin, “Examination of the Effects of Temperature on Progression of Alkali Silica Reaction Using an Accelerated Temperature ASTM C 1293 Test”
Narayanan Neithalath, Purdue University, “Reducing Noise of Concrete Pavement by Modifying Surface Characteristics”
Donald Burden, University of New Brunswick, “The Durability of Concrete Containing High Levels of Supplementary Cementing Materials”
Scott Burlingame, Cornell University, “Concrete Quality Control Via Infrared Thermal Imaging”
Funded by an initial endowment and by voluntary contributions, PCA's Education Foundation helps finance education programs and activities in the cement and concrete industries.
