Eight winners of the first annual Promotion Progress Awards were announced by the Portland Cement Association (PCA). The awards honor PCA member company personnel for outstanding efforts in promoting cement and concrete products.
The award winners were: Mark Bertrand, Lafarge; Lee Godfrey, Signal Mountain Cement; Peter Hawkins, California Portland Cement; Hank Hearon, Rio Grande Portland Cement; Rolland Johns, Cemex; Bill Larson, Cemex; Jesse Melancon, Holnam; and Al Newman, Lehigh Portland Cement.
“Each of this year's winners exemplifies a commitment of time and energy beyond regular responsibilities in order to achieve important promotional goals of the cement industry,” said Robert Rayner, PCA board chairman and president and chief operating officer of Essroc.
“We depend heavily on our members to promote cement and concrete products, and to participate in product standards development and public affairs work,” said Jay Gleason, PCA president. “We received 32 nominees, and they all deserve recognition for their dedication to furthering and improving the use of cement and concrete.”
