In the latter half of 2001, Lafarge North America reorganized its cement and cement-related businesses into five geographic regions. Designed primarily to better serve its customers, the new organization was implemented Jan. 1, 2002. As part of the reorganization, Jean-Marc Lechêne was named to the new position of executive vice president and president-cement operations. He has served in a number of executive posts in North America and overseas since joining the Lafarge Group in 1993.
