Texas Industries to add new clinker system Texas Industries will be installing a new 6,000-tpd cement clinker producing system at their Midlothian plant. The plant, rated at 2 million tpy, will be the largest single process line in the United States. The contract is valued at $185 million. Fuller will be the supplier.

Kosmos Cement to expand, upgrade Kentucky plant Kosmos Cement will spend $15 million to expand and modernize its Louisville, Ky. plant. The expansion and modernization project will increase the plant's capacity 700,000 tpy to about 1.6 million tpy. Equipment delivery is expected to begin in July 1999, with start-up sometime in mid-2000. Humboldt Wedag of Georgia has been awarded the contract.

Report on Canadian cement production for 1998 The Minerals and Metals Sector of Natural Resources Canada has issued its annual report on Canadian cement production. In 1998, cement companies produced 12.1 million mt, up from 11.7 million mt in 1997.
