A new cement plant in Dubai's Jebel Ali industrial area opened last year.
Even before construction was completed, plans were drawn up to increase the production capacity from the initial 250,000 to 400,000 mtpy, according to Falcon Cement Co., a 100% subsidiary of UK-based RMC. The plant will be operated by Binani Cement, a major Indian producer.
Falcon is the first purpose-built ground granulated blast furnace slag processing plant in the Middle East. The product is called Duracem, which is used in concrete to enhance longevity and strength.
