Greenfield plant in Iran The state-owned, Ehdasse Sanat Corp. in Iran awarded a $US15 million to F.L. Smidth & Co. A/S covering the principal machinery and equipment for a production line with a capacity of 3,000 mtpd of clinker.

The line will form the basis of a new greenfield plant, Darab Cement, being built in a mountainous area in southwest Iran at Shiraz in the Fars Province, 380 km from the Persian Gulf.

The order comprises a complete pyroprocessing system consisting of a rotary kiln, a Coolax grate cooler, a preheater with calciner, an Atox raw mill, raw and cement mill feeding systems, as well as two cement mills with Sepax separator. The line will be delivered by mid-1999 and is scheduled for commissioning around the beginning of 2001.

F.L. Smidth has been in negotiations with the Edhasse Sanat Corp. since October 1996 and, in the past year, has commissioned four new kiln systems in Iran, which currently produces around 24 million mtpy at around 400 kg per capita.
