The Cement Association of Canada announced the appointment of Jim Brown, president and COO of British Columbia-based Lehigh Northwest Cement Ltd, as chairman of its board of directors, which became effective in mid-March. Brown succeeds Alan Kreisberg, who stepped down after serving as chairman for two years and will remain on the board as a member representative.

Brown has held his position at Lehigh NW since January 2004. In addition, he has overall responsibility for the Lehigh Pacific Region on the west coast of North America. He started his career in the cement industry in 1976 with Inland Cement, now a Lehigh company. During the course of his career, Brown has held positions in western Canada, California, and Pennsylvania.

Pierre Boucher, president and CEO of CAC, said, “We welcome Mr. Brown as chairman and are sure that he will be a worthy successor to Mr. Kreisberg. We owe a debt of gratitude to Mr. Kreisberg for his service as chairman during the last two years.”
