Lehigh Cement Co. has completed its purchase of Dykerhoff/Buzzi's 50% ownership in the Glens Falls Lehigh Cement Co. partnership in mid-January. The transaction places Lehigh in a formidable position as a cement supplier in the New England and Mid-Atlantic markets. Customers from Maine to North Carolina will benefit from the flexible logistical options.
The 550,000-tpy Glens Falls cement plant uses modern preheater technology and supplies cement by truck, rail, and barge throughout eastern New York and New England. Cement and slag grinding capacity at the company's Cementon plant in Catskill, N.Y., augments the cement plant's capacity and produced blended products. A network of terminals including location near Syracuse, N.Y., in the mid-Hudson River Valley, the Port of New York City, Providence, R.I., and the Boston-metropolitan areas serve customers throughout the area.
Lehigh's extensive east coast terminal network — stretching from New York City to the Miami area — can now provide additional outlets for the Glens Falls products.
