Lafarge Corp. officially opened its new $13 million cement distribution terminal in South Chicago. "With 36,000 tons of new capacity and reduced loading time, we are positioned to continue to serve our customers in South Chicago," said Lafarge Corp. President and CEO John M. Piecuch.

Lafarge has been active in the South Chicago market since 1989 with a floating storage terminal. To meet increasing demand, the company built the new terminal, which has an average loading time of less than 5 minutes for each 25-ton truck and can load two trucks at a time at 500 tph. It also can unload a vessel at 800 tph, according to Lafarge.
