Lafarge Gypsum, a division of Lafarge Corp., opened a new $90 million gypsum drywall manufacturing plant in Silver Grove, Ky.
The facility will have an estimated annual capacity of 900 million sq ft of wallboard, and will be the largest single-line production facility in the U.S. The plant will be able to serve a market area that encompasses 14 states, representing nearly 10 billion sq ft of annual demand.
The plant will satisfy 100% of its primary raw material requirements by using recycled materials, including reclaimed paper and synthetic gypsum, a byproduct from the Zimmer power plant in nearby Moscow, Ohio.
