Employee morale, company culture, and financial performance are among criteria for which Paris-based Lafarge Group received high marks by Fortune editors compiling the 2003 “10 Great Companies to Work For in Europe” list. The global leader in cement and number two player in ready mixed concrete, Lafarge Group joins such companies as Nestle, Bacardi Martini, and Ferrari on the list, which is presented without ranking and is a companion to Fortune's annual “100 Great Companies to Work For” salute to domestic entities.

Although not ranked this year, California's Graniterock has made that list in recent years. Also, the nod to Lafarge Group in Europe could set the table for inclusion of the company's subsidiary, Lafarge North America, on a future 100 list.
