CEMENT TOTALS--OCTOBER 1999 Portland and blended cement shipments in the United States and Puerto Rico totaled 10.5 million mt in October 1999, 1% more than the revised shipment data for October 1998. Cumulative shipments through October 1999 totaled 90.15 million mt, a 5% increased compared with those of the same period in 1998. Clinker production totaled 6.8 million mt in October, 2% more than the production data for October 1998. Cumulative production through October 1999 was 63.7 million mt, a 2% upturn compared with that of the same period in 1998. Masonry cement shipments of 390,558 mt in October were 3% more than revised data for October 1998. Cumulative shipments through October 1999 were 3.7 million mt, an 11% increase compared to 1998.
