Michael Klenk was promoted to plant manager of Lafarge North America's Whitehall cement plant. Klenk has been at the facility for me than a year as operations manager in charge of all production, safety, and maintenance activities. He succeeds Dave Dziubinski, who was promoted to plant manager of Lafarge's Alpena, Mich., operation.
Before coming to Whitehall, Klenk served as process and quality control manager, production manager, and then operations manager at Lafarge Calcium Aluminates in Chesapeake, Va. Prior positions include process engineer at Lafarge Corp. in Demopolis, Ala., and project engineer and process engineer for corporate technical service for Lafarge Canada.
Established in 1899, the Whitehall facility is the oldest operation Lehigh Valley cement plant, with more than 100 employees. The plant was also a trail blazer in adopting the use of tire-derived fuel, which it has been using since 1993 and has seen reduced plant emissions as a result.
