Following news that the SARS outbreak in Asia may not be resolved as soon as experts had previously thought, the organizers of Intercem Asia announced a postponement of the meeting until September, when it is hoped the situation will have calmed down. Exact dates are forthcoming. This delay comes after organizers previously moved the event from its original April 24-25 dates to June 24-25.
In a statement released recently, Intercem said, “We are totally committed to holding this important event as are our Chinese partners, but will only do so when it is safe for delegates to travel. We question the responsibility of any organizer who choose to promote a meeting anywhere in Asia that will attract international participants under the current circumstances.”
