The Swiss building materials giant Holcim Ltd and Switzerland Tourism have teamed up to bring The Alps to IMAX theatres around the world.

The film will bring the beauty and multifaceted culture of the Swiss Alps to life and chronicles the journey of American climber John Harlin and the story story that unfolds in the midst of some of nature's most awe-inspiring scenery. At the very heart of the film is John Harlin III's climb of the storied North Face of the Eiger, as he retraces the climb that claimed the life of his father, famed alpinist John Harlin II, 40 years earlier.

The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's Samuel C. Johnson IMAX Theatre hosted the world premier of the film March 7. For more information, visit www.alpsfilm.com.
