Portland Cement Association named Fares Y. Abdo, PE, as program manager of water resources within the association's public works department. Abdo is responsible for the promotion of cement-based solutions for water resources applications such as water conveyance, water and wastewater treatment facilities, dams, spillways, canals, bank protection, and reservoir liners.

Abdo is a member of the American Concrete Institute and has extensive industry experience, including work in the fields of concrete consultation, structural and construction materials investigation, nondestructive testing of concrete, pavement construction, and more. He also is a registered professional engineer in the state of Alabama.

Prior to joining PCA, Abdo had worked for Vulcan Materials Co. as manager/research engineer at Vulcan's Technical Services Center, and has held various positions with MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc.
