Cemex recently awarded a US$35.9 million contract to FLSmidth for its new kiln system at the Tepeaca, Mexico plant. Located 2,300 meters above sea level, this will be the largest single clinker production line in all of Latin America with a capacity of 10,000 mtpd.
FLSmidth will supply engineering services, project management, and commissioning as well as all major machines for the pyroprocessing line, including ILC 5-stage preheater with low-NOx and low-CO calciner; three-support kiln with tangential suspension; and multi-movable cross-bar cooler.
The project is being celebrated by Cemex as a testament to its success and an appropriate means to celebrate its 100-year anniversary. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
FLSmidth also was given the contract for a new OK 33-4 finish grinding mill for Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua's (GCC) plant in Chihuahua, Mexico. The company elected to install the new vertical roller mill to replace an existing ball mill in anticipation of future pyro system capacity increase and to lower the electric power consumption. Commissioning of the mill in scheduled for late 2007.
