CIMENTOS DE PORTUGAL reported its consolidated net profit grew 19% to US$129 million in 2000, compared with US$109 million in 1999, boosted by a sharp rise in sales in its international markets as well as a modest rise in demand in the Iberian peninsula. Total sales rose 34% to US$1.2 billion in 2000 from US$832.5 million in 1999. Cimpor results were at the high end of analyst's expectations of around US$127.26 million net profit and sales of US$1.10 billion.

CIMENTS FRANCAIS reported consolidated net sales of US$528.9 million and an operating income of US$59 million for the first three months of 2001. Despite particularly unfavorable climatic conditions, consolidated sales advanced 8.6% for the first three months of 2001. Cement sales were US$339.8 million, compared with US$306.7 million during the same period in 2000.
