Environmentalists target proposed Missouri plant

The Missouri Coalition for the Environment began a media campaign to halt a proposal for the $600 million cement plant in Ste. Genevieve County, Mo. The group hopes its efforts will heighten public opposition to the Lee Island project, proposed by Holnam Inc. At the press event, the coalition was challenged by several residents who said the plant would provide 200 badly needed jobs for the community.
