Education Foundation awards six fellowships for 2004

Portland Cement Association's Education Foundation has awarded six $20,000 research fellowships to graduate students this year. Funded by an initial endowment and by voluntary contributions, PCA's Education Foundation helps finance education programs and activities in the cement and concrete industries. This year's winning graduate students, their university, and their research topics are:

Chang-Seon Shon, Texas A&M University, “Development of a New Rapid Test Method for Predicting Alkali-Silica Reactivity of Concrete and Aggregate”
Tanya Owens, University of New Brunswick, “The Development of Rapid Test Methods for Measuring the Transport Properties of Concrete”
Nader Hafez Amer, Cleveland State University, “Laboratory Evaluation of Thin Bonded Overlays on Roller-Compacted Concrete Pavements”
Dennis Ervin, University of South Carolina, “Effects of Cement Kiln Dust Chemistry and Content on Properties of Controlled Low-Strength Materials (Flowable Fill)”
