CEMENT TOTALS--MARCH 2000 Portland and blended cement shipments in the United States and Puerto Rico totaled nearly 8.9 million mt in March 2000. This was 8% more than revised shipment data for March 1999, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Cumulative shipments through March 2000 were 21.6 million mt, a 7% increase compared with those of the same period in 1999. Clinker production totaled 6.3 million mt in March, 6% more than production data for March 1999. Cumulative production through March 2000 was 18 million mt, a 5% jump compared to 1999. Masonry cement shipments of 422,783 mt in March were 9% more than revised data from March 1999. Cumulative shipments through March 2000 were just over 1 million mt, a 5% increase compared to the same time period in 1999.
