Paul Sunderland died in his Kansas City, Mo., home on January 9, 2004, at the age of 107. Sunderland joined Ash Grove Cement Co. in 1917 and succeeded his father as Chairman of the Board from 1946 to 1967, when he became honorary chairman. He was the father of Jim Sunderland, Ash Grove's honorary chairman of the board, and grandfather of Charlie and Kent Sunderland, current Chairman and Vice Chairman of the company's board.
