Essroc Italcementi’s Martinburg, W.Va. plant announced that it had awarded a $2 million contract to TurboSonic Technologies for the design and supply of SO2 abatement equipment. This is the second contract for TurboSonic this fiscal year by Italcementi for this plant, the first of which was for a SoniCool Evaporative cooling system, announced in July 2008.

This latest contract is for TurboSorb Semi-Dry Absorption technology for the reduction of SO2 emissions. The system uses the company’s Turbotak spray atomization technology for effective control of acid gas emissions, which has been employed in the waste incineration and power generation industries. Equipment has been scheduled for delivery later this calendar year. Edward Spink, TurboSonic CEO, said, “This is another contract won through the collaboration of our North American and European offices and yet another repeat order from a large, multi-national corporation, consistent with our strategy of focusing on building long-term loyalty and growth through customer satisfaction. With its 63 plants worldwide, Italcementi certainly fits into our vision for growth.”
