Cemex recently announced changes to its senior management team, effective March 1, 2010. Fernando A. Gonzalez has been appointed executive vice president, Planning & Finance. Gonzalez, who has served the company in a variety of executive capacities since 1989 and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2003, will be responsible for all corporate strategic and developmental functions, including the company’s relationships with capital markets.

Most recently serving as executive vice president for Planning and Development, Gonzalez headed Cemex’s businesses in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. “In his new role, one of Fernando Gonzalez’s key assignments is to execute the financial strategy that we have put in place over the past year,” said Cemex Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Zambrano, adding that his "wealth of operating, strategic and financial experience will help us take full advantage of upcoming recovery in our markets.”

Cemex also announced the retirement of Executive Vice President of Finance and Legal Hector Medina and Executive Vice President of Technology, Energy and Sustainability Armando J. Garcia. Medina and Garcia each participated in an early retirement program for senior executives. Garcia remains a member of the Board of Directors, on which he has served since 1983.
