Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp. (TMEIC) announced an order from ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions (USA) Inc. to supply MV Drive Systems for the new McInnis Cement plant. The 6,000-mtpd clinker production plant is currently under construction on a green field site in the Port-Daniel-Gascons area of Quebec, Canada.
ThyssenKrupp has been contracted to supply a full cement line with a POLCID proprietary process control system to monitor and control all aspects of the facility. A POLAB laboratory automation system will assure product quality in every phase of the process. The new plant is scheduled for commissioning in mid- to late 2016 with full production in 2017.
The TMEIC Dura-Bilt5i MV series of medium-voltage drives specified for the project were chosen for their simple operation in a robust and compact design, providing a cost-effective solution for a broad range of applications. The Dura-Bilt5i MV Drives coupled with the TMEIC 21-L and 21-M motors deliver value through high efficiency, higher power factor, low cost of ownership and high reliability.

The plant will have the capacity to produce 2.2 million metric tons of cement per year. With a marine terminal adjacent to the plant, shipments will be efficient and quick to many markets, including the U.S. Eastern Seaboard and the entire perimeter of the Atlantic Ocean.
