City Council, Regional Agencies Host Meeting About Lehigh Cement

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the city council of Cupertino, Calif., hosted a forum in early September to update residents on regulatory agencies overseeing Lehigh Southwest Cement’s Cupertino facility and to learn about the latest mandates from the agencies. Updates were given by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District), County of Santa Clara, and San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board.

Roanoke Cement’s Terminal Wins Safety Award

Roanoke Cement Co.’s Front Royal, Va., terminal was awarded Portland Cement Association’s 2013 Terminal Safety Award for 12.75 years without a lost time accident. PCA President Greg Scott presented the award at the terminal earlier this summer.

Eagle Materials Sees Record Cement Volumes

Eagle Materials Inc. reported financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2014 ended June 30, 2013. Notable items for the quarter include revenues of $227.0 million, up 47 percent from prior-year, and record quarterly cement sales volumes of 1.2 million tons.
