Titan America Plant Replaces Coal with Waste

Titan America’s Medley, Fl., plant has begun using selected waste, such as car bumpers and scrap cardboard, as an alternative to coal in cement production, according to the Sun Sentinel. The company is the first to use the waste-to-cement process on a large scale in Florida, states industry experts.

Dangote Looks to South America

Dangote Cement Plc, one of Africa’s biggest producer of building materials and Nigeria’s largest company, is looking at expanding in three South American countries and has signed a preliminary joint-venture agreement with one company, Dangote Group Executive Director Devakumar Edwin said.

FLSmidth Opens Office in Colombia

FLSmidth is expanding its operations in the Colombian market through the establishment of a new office in the city of Barranquilla in the northern part of the country. The new office opened Jan. 1, and will bring FLSmidth closer to its customers on the Colombian market and strengthen local service offerings. The Barranquilla office is part of FLSmidth’s extended activities to bring the group’s services closer to its customers all around the world.
