Holcim Plants Earn Energy Star Status

Holcim (US) Inc. announced that its Holly Hill plant in South Carolina has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star for the fourth consecutive year.

“It is with great pride that once again Holly Hill is recognized by the EPA validating the commitment that our management team and employees have to protect the environment,” said Joe McFalls, Holcim Holly Hill plant manager. “I’m proud of their dedication and proud to work for a company that values efforts to protect the environment.”

In addition, four other Holcim plants were honored. The Theodore plant in Theodore, Ala., and the Ste Genevieve plant in Bloomsdale, Mo., join the Holly Hill plant as four-time winners. The Devil’s Slide plant in Morgan, Utah, has earned its sixth consecutive award from the EPA and the Portland plant in Florence, Colo., has been honored for three consecutive years.

EPA’s national energy performance rating system provides a 1-100 scale that helps organizations assess how efficiently their facilities use energy relative to similar facilities nationwide. A cement plant that scores a rating of 75 or higher and meets all other official EPA requirements is eligible for the Energy Star.
