Cemex has recently began its first turnkey project in the Dominican Republic with its participation in the construction of one of capital city Santo Domingo’s biggest projects and the surrounding market. Mercatodo Santo Domingo is a new distribution center for agricultural and refrigerated products. It will require 12,500 cu. meters of ready mix concrete and is one of the biggest projects currently being undertaken in the country.

For this construction, Cemex gave important recommendations that contributed to a better final product, among them the use of pavement concrete MR 35 in its parking lot. The project began as an initiative to replace asphalt with concrete, installing rigid paving for the parking lots and flexible pavement for throughways. Cemex won the contract to pave about 40,000 sq. meters of parking lots in a turnkey scheme. The project is scheduled for completion in September.
